A BIZARRE new trend has seen a Scots couple offer alpacas as special guests at weddings in Innerleithen.

Jean Macdonald and Stuart Ramsay of Velvet Hall Alpacas fell in love with the adorable animals in 2011 – after meeting them for the first time at an agricultural show in Kelso.

And now the pair welcome couples to hire the alpacas to take part in their weddings. They are primarily used to deliver the rings to the bride and groom in a velvet pouch attached to their collars and bowties.

Stuart said: “They are usually used as ring bearers, but also for photos as well.

“There’s usually this lull between the wedding ceremony and the reception for photographs and we tend to try and get the guests involved with our boys during the gap.

“We show the flower girls and the ring bearers how to take the alpacas around the guests to introduce them and they feed them.”
