Pack of alpacas to flock to Portland

More than 200 alpacas will compete in Portland for a doubleheader alpaca event. The show will feature alpacas in the show ring competition, comprised of classes judging conformation and fleece quality in many categories for both Suri and Huacaya alpacas.

Every year, hundreds of alpacas and alpaca enthusiasts, as well as fiber art enthusiasts, gather for the Alpaca Association of Western Washington's Alpacapalooza, the Northwest's largest alpaca show.

This year, the shows have joined for one grand event under one roof at the Portland EXPO Center, 2060 N. Marine Drive. This doubleheader event will take place from May 11 to 13.

Show hours

Friday, May 11: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 12: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday, May 13: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, artisans will showcase alpaca fiber and examples of felting and fiber arts. Vendors and farm displays will sell the latest alpaca fashions and hand-crafted items.
